The winners of the Debrecen wine competition were announced
This year’s winners of the city wine competition in Debrecen were announced in seven categories on Wednesday, at the local Mercur hotel. The winners can hold the title of Debrecen City Wine 2024 for one year.
Mayor László Papp (Fidesz-KDNP) recalled: the competition was first announced ten years ago with the aim of selecting the best Hungarian wines that worthily represent the Carpathians at the city’s official events, gastronomic programs, in the wine offerings of local restaurants, and as representative gifts – pool wine culture.
He added: the title is not losing its popularity, this year more than ever before, five hundred wines competed for the title.
Réka Mészáros, managing director of one of the organizers, Főnix Rendezvényszervező Nonprofit Kft., said that the winners of the wine competitions are present every year at the city’s major gastronomic events.
