The development of the mineral water sector is a priority
The new Széchenyi Plan mentions the development of the mineral sector, as a priority. The natural mineral water is a Hungarikum, known for centuries. Its protection should be considered as a priority task – stated the Ministry of Rural Development.
Currently there are 35 manufacturers, in the Hungarian mineral water market, the number of brands are close to fifty. In Hungary there are currently about 130 mineral water wells.
In Hungary, the per capita mineral water consumption increases by 20-30 percent per year since the fall of socialism, it reaches 110 liters per capita per year nowadays, while the European average, is 130 liters per person per year – reports Origo.
