Outstanding performance from mineral waters
This year mineral waters performed superbly: between December 2013 and March 2014 sales exceeded HUF 15 billion, growing by 15 percent in value and by 10 percent in volume. The unusually big sales growth is the result of two factors: prices elevated by 5 percent from one 4-month period to the other and the flavoured segment managed to expand significantly – in the examined period flavoured waters’ share from total mineral water value sales reached 14 percent, 4 percentage points more than in the base period. Still mineral waters’ share from sales was 48 percent, carbonated waters were at 44 percent and mildly carbonated waters’ share was 8 percent. Stores with a floor space above 2,500m² lost 4 percentage points of their share from value sales and were at 32 percent. 67 percent of the mineral water we purchased were manufacturer brands, which means that there was a 3-percentage point drop in this respect
