It turned out how much more expensive the heck is at Balaton than at Lidl
On the second of August, Lidl will offer a 15 percent discount on the hake stock, so 100 grams will be available for just HUF 280. On the other hand, on the shores of Lake Balaton, prepared hake trunk costs HUF 800-1,000 per 100 grams, which means a significant price difference. The reasons for the difference include labor costs, rents, energy prices, and of course profit.
The prices of the Balaton beach buffets have risen significantly in recent years. For example, lángos, which costs about 500 forints when prepared at home, can reach up to 2-3 thousand forints on the shores of Lake Balaton. There are several factors behind the high prices:
Labor costs: A Balaton cafeteria finds employees for 20-25 thousand forints per day, and whether it rains or not, the wages amount to hundreds of thousands of forints per day.
Rental fees: The rental fee for buffets can run into several million forints per year, which must be paid even if the property is only used in the summer.
Profit: Of course, entrepreneurs also want to make a profit, which further raises prices.
Renting the panoramic pool of the Rudas spa ranges from HUF 35-45,000, and in the Csillaghegyi spa, private bathing and sauna can be used for two hours for HUF 47,000. These prices also show that the price of the services provided on the Balaton and Budapest beaches can significantly exceed the average ticket prices.
