Passengers at London Heathrow, Brussels Zaventem and Berlin-Brandenburg airports are facing significant disruption after a cyberattack on Collins Aerospace’s IT system supporting passenger check-in and boarding processes hit the system on Friday evening, AIRportal reported, citing Reuters.

RTX, which operates the system, described the incident on Saturday as a “cybersecurity incident” and said its specialists were working to restore it. The airports affected are currently trying to ensure passenger check-in and boarding using manual procedures, which is causing long queues and significant delays.

Heathrow has warned its passengers of the expected delays and advised them to arrive at the airport at least three hours before long-haul flights and two hours before domestic flights. Brussels Zaventem has asked the public not to go to the airport until their flight has been confirmed by the airline. The Berlin-Brandenburg airport website only states that there will be longer check-in times.

Frankfurt and Zurich airports have indicated that they are not affected by the incident. All affected airports are asking passengers to check their flight status directly with the airline before departure.
