Who buy online and how do they do it?
A survey by GKI and Árukereső reveals that the popularity of online shopping is growing in Hungary. By the end of the year the number of online buyers will exceed 2.3 million. In 2014 online retail sales amounted to HUF 230 billion, from which the 10 biggest online shops realised 22 percent. The study identified six shopper types, experienced online shoppers (31 percent), those doing thorough research before buying (26 percent), beginners (14 percent), occasional buyers (11 percent), bargain hunters (10 percent) and adventurers (8 percent). Consumer electronics is the category purchased most frequently online, in 2014 consumers spent HUF 40 billion on the category; IT devices were purchased for HUF 32 billion and toys and cultural products were at HUF 30 billion.
