K&H: they took out insurance for the micromobility devices for slightly more than HUF 6,000 per year
Since the introduction of mandatory insurance for micromobility devices, K&H has signed contracts for almost 6,500 such vehicles, including scooters, the financial institution announced. The average price of insurance is slightly more than HUF 6,200.
On July 16 of this year, the regulation regarding the mandatory insurance of micromobility devices came into force: and K&H prepared the balance sheet for the first few months.
A start of several thousand
From mid-July to the end of August, nearly 6,500 micro-mobility devices were insured at K&H, 70 percent of which are electric-powered micro-mobility devices. The annual average fee for the compulsory insurance in question is HUF 6,224 at the financial institution.
Since micromobility devices do not have official markings – in other words, license plates – all users of such vehicles must have an insurance contract. Thus, if, for example, someone borrows an instrument from someone else that is covered by the insurance obligation, but does not have a contract, then he must take care of this.
They can be dangerous
Micromobility devices and other electric scooters used today already compete with the speed of an auxiliary motorcycle, so they can cause an accident with significant damage. That is why it is important that those who use these devices, including their electric scooters, consider taking out additional accident insurance, which provides extra coverage in the event of a major accident.” – pointed out Pálma Székely, head of K&H’s sales and life insurance business.
Even since the introduction of the rule, there have been misunderstandings about exactly which vehicles do or do not need to be insured, and the question of electric bicycles has also arisen several times, but the latter are not covered by the regulation.
