On the occasion of Women’s Day, K&H examined the payment habits of women in March. The data shows that the financial institution’s female customers follow technological trends and choose mobile payment solutions in a larger proportion year after year. According to K&H’s analysis, the number of transactions initiated by women and the amounts spent digitally have both shown spectacular growth in the third months of the past three years.

Women’s Day is an excellent opportunity to highlight how women are shaping the banking of the future. According to the latest statistics from K&H, women’s willingness to transact is constantly increasing. While in March 2023, women paid with their mobile phones or smart devices on 7.5 million occasions, in 2024 this number had already increased to over 9.5 million, and by 2025 to 10.6 million. This means that the proportion of women in total turnover has increased from 24.4 percent two years ago to 26.2 percent.

Billion-dollar turnover and digital trust

Awareness is reflected not only in the number of transactions, but also in the volume. While total mobile banking turnover in March already exceeds 314 billion forints, women’s spending is also sharply rising. In March 2023, women paid nearly 48.3 billion forints with digital solutions, in 2024 this amount increased to 65 billion forints, and in March 2025 it reached 78.7 billion forints.

Apple Pay is also the most popular among women in terms of platform distribution: in March 2025, 13.6 billion forints were paid with this technology. The use of Google Pay is similarly dynamic, with female users’ turnover on this platform increasing from HUF 2.3 billion in 2023 to HUF 6.3 billion in 2025.

Women are also increasingly open to specialized wearable devices. The turnover among female customers via the Garmin and Xiaomi Pay systems increased from HUF 49.5 million in 2023 to HUF 70.9 million in 2025. Although the volume of wearable devices is even smaller compared to phone payments, the direction of growth is clear: women also value convenience and style in banking.
