There was great interest in this year’s anniversary K&H Watch out, ready, money! financial competition for students, which ended with the finals for this academic year in June. A total of 3,438 teams entered the current competition, in which K&H cooperated with MNB-EduLab Nonprofit Ltd., the operator of the Hungarian Money Museum and Visitor Center, which is 10 percent more than the previous year. In the competition’s one and a half decade history, a total of more than 100,000 students have been able to deepen their financial knowledge. The financial institution is committed to continuing the competition, and it will of course take place in the next academic year as well.

This year, the K&H Watch out, ready, money! national financial competition celebrated its 15th birthday, having helped raise the financial awareness of more than 100,000 students since its inception. In this competition, K&H collaborated with MNB-EduLab Nonprofit Kft., the operator of the Hungarian Coin Museum and Visitor Center, thereby helping students gain as much knowledge as possible.

In this year’s competition, children, schools and teachers really showed off their skills, in keeping with the anniversary. This means that at the beginning of the school year, a total of 3,438 teams – more than 10 percent more than last year – started nationwide, representing 14,119 students. 525 schools participated in the competition. After three rounds, the best teams were able to compare their knowledge in the final of the competition, which took place on June 4-5 as part of a large-scale event in Budapest, K&H announced.

Horváth Magyary Voljč Nóra, the K&H Group’s communications executive director, said: in the competition series, the children were able to demonstrate their financial knowledge through diverse tasks that conveyed knowledge that could be used in everyday life. In the final, they solved complex tasks, for example, analyzing decision-making situations related to the family budget, making a poster on financial topics affecting young people, or using the K&H pension calculator, calculating how much Kápé, the father of the K&H Vigyázz, szét, pénz! blogger, should save for retirement insurance each month. These exercises not only developed financial awareness, but also drew attention to the importance of understanding the importance of long-term self-care, such as retirement savings, at a young age.
