K&H Sustainability Index: the intention is there
K&H first published its sustainability index in the first half of 2022.
The results of a second survey, which was done half a year later, reveal that sustainability is a priority for firms, but the actual steps they are taking are still quite small. Companies with a sales revenue above HUF 4bn produced the highest sustainability index at 47 points. More firms plan to develop a sustainability strategy than last time, as this index climbed from 30 points to 34. Negative economic trends have a dual effect on companies. On the one hand they realise how important green sources of energy are – 61% of companies say the use of alternative energy sources will be necessary. On the other hand due to the difficult economic situation, 84% of firms believe that sooner or later their sustainability efforts will suffer. Compared with the previous six months, the proportion of companies that feel completely unaffected by the problem of CO2 emission fell significantly, while nearly half of firms are aware of the problem. //
