K&H: December SZÉP card top list: is a trend reversal expected this year?
The end of last year was particularly busy in terms of SZÉP card spending – in December, cardholders spent the most on food delivery services, while the average value of accommodation reservations also increased. December is traditionally one of the busiest months for SZÉP card payments, along with the summer period, and this year spending may increase further, as the cafeteria element can now also be used for cold food.
After the summer months, K&H Bank users spent the most with their SZÉP card in December – in 432,000 transactions worth more than 3 billion forints. Based on the bank’s customers’ spending last December, food ordering services were the most popular, followed by accommodation reservations.
“One of the main lessons learned from last December’s data was that the demand for everyday food services increases during this period, so this year it supports the needs of users well that from December 1 this year they can also buy cold food from their SZÉP card. In addition, the use of the SZÉP card may be further encouraged by the fact that half of the benefit amount can be used for home renovation this year, so minor home renovations and the purchase of furnishings can also be solved with its help”
– emphasized Zoltán Rammacher, K&H’s head of retail and SME segment marketing. “As a partner, K&H is continuously developing its electronic solutions, and as a result, in 2023, it was the first to introduce the digital SZÉP card, with which users can easily and quickly use the benefit – even during the peak year-end period.”
During this holiday season, the payment and consumption habits of SZÉP card holders are likely to take a new direction, thanks to the new usage options. According to the latest research data from the K&H SME Confidence Index, 35 percent of domestic enterprises provide fringe benefits, of which the SZÉP card remains the most widespread. And customers are happy to use the cafeteria element.
