This year’s grape harvest worth a little
Midway through the harvest, it can be seen, that the yield will be less than the expected 3.5 million hektoliters, because of the hot summer. But despite the fewer amount of grapes, Hungarian wineries do not pay more for it.
The wineries that own vineyards, first develop their own grapes, then their contractual partners’ and then they buy from "foreign" producers. The cellars, though not overwhelmingly full, but in early August nearly 2.8 million hectoliters of wine were found which is 800 thousand more than the results of the previous year. The situation is worsened by the increase in imports as well – reports Népszabadság Online.
