Less cherry will grow this year
The cherry yield is expected to be 60-70 thousand tons this year, less than last year’s record of 100,000 tons. Demand and prices are increasing due to the lower yields and due to the damage occured in plantations in Poland – according to the panorama of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK).
According to NAK’s announcement published on Wednesday, early Hungarian sour cherries will be available in markets and shops next week.
Due to the hectic weather this spring, the alternation of dry and cool days, strong winds and rainy weather, fertilization was not as high as in the previous year. (MTI)
