Less grain for export
Exports were up by 19 per cent in January 2008, while imports were 15 per cent higher than a year earlier. Total exports amounted to HUF 1,529 million in the first two months of the year, while imports totalled HUF 1,548 million. Exports of processed products rose at double the rate of increase for import. (12 per cent and 6 per cent). Exports of food, beverages and tobacco were down by 12 per cent compared to January, mainly as a result of a 18 per cent drop in the export of grain.
