Not enough POS accept cards
According to a survey conducted for MasterCard®, significant changes have taken place in the way we use debit cards, in the last five years. While only 31 per cent of crad holders used their cards primarily for payment in 2003, this percentage was up to 57 in 2007. Cash with- drawals are becoming less frequent. The average frequency of card purchases has risen to 4-5 per month. However, the relatively low number of outlets in the way of further progress. where cards are accepted is an obstacle. At the moment, the number of such retail outlets is only 41 per cent of the desirable level. Debit cards are still only used for more substantial purchases in retail stores, although one out of three card holders would use their cards for smaller purchases as well, if payment could be speeded up.
