Onions may get crazy expensive
At the beginning of January, the wholesale price of bagged onions increased, which could be a harbinger of further price increases. There are much less onions this year than at this time last year.
Onions in bags in Polish wholesale markets last rose significantly before January at the end of October; in November and December, the wholesale price stagnated around PLN 2.1/kg (HUF 180/kg), napi.hu points out.
However, at the very end of December and the first days of January, a small increase in prices started, which, according to the experience of the previous years, can usually be taken as a sign of the direction prices will take in the new year.
