Two types of flagging system at grocery stores
Small butchers don’t have to flag, but small greengrocers do. In the butcher shop, all meat must be flagged by country of origin, in the vegetable shop only Hungarian goods.

According to the latest statistics, there are 38,000 grocery stores in Hungary today, with a wider selection of the larger ones running under the so-called mixed food name, and their number is over 19,000. Their average floor area is 198 square meters. The number of specialty stores is close to 19,000, these are typically smaller stores. The number of butcher shops affected by the flag rule was 3,155, their average floor area was 53 square meters, and the number of fruit and vegetable orchards was 4,680 at the end of 2019, with a floor area of 34 square meters.
