Irrigation of two thousand hectares will be provided by the next phase of the Homokhátság Water Replacement Project
The conditions for the irrigation of two thousand hectares will be created by the next phase of the Homokhátság water replenishment project, for which the government provided 1.8 billion HUF, Nógrádi Zoltán (Fidesz-KDNP), the mayor of Mórahalom, said on Thursday.
The politician said in a press conference that the Homokhátság is the largest contiguous desertification area in Central Europe. The purpose of water replenishment is twofold: to reduce the effects of atmospheric and soil drought by cooling the environment, and to reduce the use of groundwater resources. (MTI)
