Golden yellow disease identified in two new counties
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) confirmed the presence of the pathogen causing golden yellow grapes in Csongrád-Csanád and Hajdú-Bihar counties. This means that 15 counties are now affected. The disease can only be protected against with preventive measures. Nébih asks producers to continuously monitor their plantations and comply with plant protection regulations. Any suspicion of the disease should be reported to the authorities immediately.

The infection in Csongrád-Csanád county was confirmed by the Nébih laboratory from samples taken from a 2 ha dessert and wine grape plantation. The sampling was carried out during a targeted surveillance of grapevines showing suspicious symptoms. In Hajdú-Bihar county, the official sampling was carried out based on a report from a resident of Debrecen. The examination also resulted in the laboratory detection of phytoplasma. Early detection and reporting are key to preventing the spread of the disease. Nébih would like to thank the public for their responsible attitude, which helps in the fight against the disease.
Golden yellow phytoplasma is a notifiable, quarantine pest
Nébih continues to call on grape growers to report any symptoms they experience as soon as possible to the relevant county government office or Nébih. If you encounter non-native pests or symptoms caused by them, you should immediately notify the plant health inspector of the relevant county government office and Nébih.
