Twenty SPAR partner stores opened in two years
The first SPAR Partner store opened in September 2012 in Mór. On 9 October 2014 a new one opened in Tát and another on Szent László Road in Budapest, so there are already 20 SPAR Partners. SPAR is the world’s biggest voluntarily-organised retail chain, which is present in 36 countries mainly with franchise units of independent retailers. Spar franchisees in Hungary must have a store with a floor space of at least 100m² and meet certain SPAR standards, e.g. cleanliness, systematic arrangement, necessary financial guarantees, etc. The smallest shops can become SPAR markets, bigger stores are made SPAR Partners and 5 SPAR Express supermarkets are being tested at OMV petrol stations. Cooperation is mutually beneficial: SPAR partners remain independent but they enjoy the advantages and services offered by SPAR. SPAR Partner stores become part of the SuperShop loyalty scheme and they can enjoy a product turnover system that ensures SPAR quality. These shops sell a wider range of goods than before, and many of SPAR’s own products and exclusive brands become part of the assortment. The new 350m² SPAR Partner store in Tát is operated by owner Róbert Juhász and store manager József Bátori Jr. Retailers Béla Kozma and Pál Fodor plan to open five SPAR franchise stores, from which the 220m² shop on Szent László Road in Budapest is the first.
