Amazon Go goes with cash in New York City
The first Amazon Go store in New York City opened for business this week and is taking cash as well as offering a cashierless checkout customer experience.
The store is the 12th Amazon Go location the mega omnichannel retailer is operating around the U.S. Initially designed as a cashierless experience, a cash payment option is going to be available as the result of negative feedback and claims that cashless retail is discriminatory to the unbanked and those without a smartphone.
Amazon reportedly is aiming to have 3,000 Go stores operating within two years. (Retail Customer Experience)
