Late October to see Arena Plaza open in Budapest
The 180,000-sqm mega-mall will boast a total of 65,000 sqm space available to nearly 200 retail store owners.
In spite of concerns surrounding the viability of completion
before the end of the year, developer Plaza Centers remains confident in
October 30 as the opening date of Arena Plaza, its latest commercial real
estate project in Budapest.
Once completed, Arena Plaza will be one
of Budapest's largest shopping center, with several leading international
fashion labels such as C&A, H&M, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, Boss, Ralph
Lauren, Paul & Shark and Lacoste occupying retail space, in addition to
stores, restaurants and entertainment features such as Electro World, Hervis,
McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and an IMAX theater, real estate agent Cushman
& Wakefield said. A Tesco hypermarket will serve as the anchor store for
the massive retail complex.
In addition, the mall will have parking space for 2,800 cars. However, poor
public transport links remain a sore problem for the developer, with Arena
Plaza located halfway between two fairly distant subway stations. In
comparison, its most successful peers in Budapest (including the Mammut, Árkád
and WestEnd malls) are virtually perched right atop a busy subway station.
