Inflation appears belatedly in e-commerce
In most cases, strong market competition delays the price increase of products sold online, the price comparison portal Olcsóbbat.hu concluded, in connection with the fact that it examined the annual price changes of the most popular products of nearly 90 product categories on the site, covering more than 3,000 products.
In almost all categories of the most popular e-commerce products, price changes below the official consumer price index took place compared to July of the previous year. (Foodstuffs, which play an important role in the high level of inflation, appear less often in online retail.) The average annual price increase of 14 percent for sports equipment is practically the same as the 13.7 percent inflation reported by KSH for July. The average price increase of the most popular household appliances was 11.1 percent, which is almost the same as the 11 percent price increase of popular DIY appliances. In the case of daily consumer goods, the average increase in prices was 10.2 percent, while among technical and computing devices it was only 1.1 percent.
