Metro’s revenues increased by seven percent in Eastern Europe
In the first quarter of 2012 Metro’s performance was proper to the expectations of the analysts, however in case of operating profit, the company made a loss, that caused a negative surprise. The management has confirmed that they do not expect profit growth this year.
The company’s operating profit level was not able to reach profit, especially due to the investments into the Media-Saturn branch of the chain. The Metro’s losses were 9 million euros on the level of operating income, while analysts expected profits of 49 million euros.
