The conditions for irrigation development support have become more favorable
In order to successfully implement investments for the development of irrigation, the Ministry of Agriculture has increased by 30% the amount of expenditure that can be accounted for in connection with the implementation, in relation to the tender entitled “Development of the agricultural water management sector” announced within the framework of the Rural Development Program, announced the Minister of Agriculture István Nagy.
The head of the department emphasized that, with the increase, the eligible expenditure amounts related to the implementation of the developments were adjusted to the current market prices. In this way, farmers can realize their planned investments with even greater security, he added. He emphasized that irrigation development is essential for maintaining and further increasing the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture. It is particularly important to emphasize this this year, when most of Hungary’s growing areas were hit by a severe drought. István Nagy pointed out that our common interest is to increase the size of the irrigated areas. This is helped by the tender, which comprehensively provides development resources for all irrigation-related activities.
The minister also drew attention to the fact that the irrigation development support has been continuously available to farmers for years, and that applications can still be submitted within the framework of this tender scheme until June 30, 2023.
