Snow is good for autumn sowings

About 80 percent of the autumn sowings in the country is blanketed with 5 to 30 centimeters snow, creating ideal environment for plants and this is what the farmers have been waiting for a long – Vancsura József, President of the National Association of Grain Producers (GOSZ), told MTI.

He added that the autumn sowings will not be damaged at places where there is no snow.

Earlier, the President of the GOSZ told MTI, that the enoough voulume of rainfall is essential for the farmers during the winter. The corn plants need an average of 20 to 40 centimeters of snow blanket to protect them from frost. (MTI)
