Russia bans imports of live animals
Cattle – sheep – goat and pork imports to Russia are prohibited from Tuesday – confirmed the Russian animal health authority on Monday.
According to the communication, the action is necessary because the epidemiological situation has deteriorated in many countries of the European Union, and according to the authority, the control of live animal shipments is not appropriate in the EU.
The Russian authorities refer that the Schmallenberg virus spreads in the EU Member States, and the proper EU veterinary control of animal transport is missing. (MTI)
