The Carlsberg brewery received a cartel fine
The Düsseldorf Regional Supreme Court imposed a 50 million euro cartel fine on the Carlsberg brewery in a proceeding that has been ongoing since 2014.
In the justification of the decision, the board found that the commission of the cartel offense at the Hamburg-based Carlsberg Deutschland Holding GmbH was proved, as its former senior employee participated in a consultation with other breweries in 2007 that also shared sensitive information from the point of view of pricing.
According to Judge Ulrich Egger’s information, the facts do not exhaust the act of prohibited “price fixing”, but the coordinated behavior of the companies based on the negotiations is considered an antitrust violation.
