Compensation to encourage the resumption of livestock farming once the threat has passed
The government’s priority goal is to stop the foot-and-mouth disease virus as soon as possible and to compensate affected farmers. After the eradication, once the threat has passed, it is important to encourage the replacement of livestock that has been forced to be liquidated, thus helping livestock farmers to continue their activities.

Livestock farming is a national strategic sector, and in addition to supporting it, the government is also committed to the emergency situation caused by foot-and-mouth disease. A high priority is to encourage those affected to quickly restore their activities and to provide assistance to prevent infection. The government prefers and supports restocking with all its might in order to enable farmers to continue their livestock farming activities at the level that existed before the infection. In the affected farms, of course, once the danger has passed, in addition to implementing the appropriate quarantine protection protocol, the government supports the repopulation of livestock and the epidemiological development of livestock farms. The goal is to restart farming on cattle farms affected by foot-and-mouth disease as soon as possible. The relevant government decree will enter into force the day after its publication, thus ensuring rapid measures.
In addition, the government will assume the salaries of workers on infected livestock farms from the state wage guarantee
In addition, the government will also help farmers affected by foot-and-mouth disease with a loan moratorium. According to this, the principal and interest repayments of all affected livestock farmers will be suspended for one year. This is important because all affected farms have undergone investment and development, and loans were used for these purposes. The loan moratorium also serves the purpose of allowing all farms to restart, which is very important for the Hungarian national economy.
