In the mood for Christmas: szaloncukor in the unusual test of Supermint
The main characters of the seasonal product test of Szupermenta, which is celebrating its 10th birthday, were coconut lollipops. The experts of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) conducted laboratory tests on a total of 19 products. The lollipops performed well in the test: the tested food safety and quality parameters were met. This time, the ranking of coconut sweets was decided at an unusual anniversary event combined with a roundtable discussion.
A total of 19 coconut lollipops were included in the Szupermenta quick test, of which 15 were made with sugar and 4 with sweeteners. In addition to those in boxes and bags, lollipops were also tested. In terms of their types, 15 dipped and 4 filled lollipops participated in the test. The products – based on their names – had different coatings: six had milk chocolate, nine had dark chocolate, and four had a cocoa coating covering the coconut filling.
As part of the food safety and quality tests conducted in the laboratories of Nébih, the products were tested for sugar, sweeteners, trans fat and allergen content, as well as for the grain count and coating ratio. No official labeling and document control was carried out this time, but the experts found all results to be in order based on the food safety and quality aspects examined. The Supermint test program celebrated its 10th birthday in November this year. This time, the popularity test of the parlor candies did not only involve blind tasting of the products: the program and the results achieved over a decade were presented by Dr. Beáta Olga Felkai, Deputy State Secretary responsible for the food chain, and the participants were also able to familiarize themselves with the anniversary publication compiled for the anniversary.
