Christmas rush: parcel traffic doubles during the holidays
During the holiday season, parcel traffic related to online orders increases significantly, which places a heavy burden on parcel delivery services and post offices. Parcel carriers are warning customers to place their orders as early as possible to avoid possible delays.
The rise of online shopping
The rise of online commerce in recent years has been particularly noticeable during the holiday season. People are increasingly purchasing their Christmas gifts online, avoiding the crowds and long lines in shopping malls. This trend means that a significant part of the traffic for courier services and online stores is concentrated in the last month of the year.
Delivery times and deadlines
The speed of parcel delivery depends largely on the capacity of online stores and the speed of preparation. GLS, for example, continues to operate with a 1-working day turnaround time, which means that they try to deliver prepared packages the next working day after they are picked up.
Packeta also encourages its customers to order their gifts as soon as possible. According to the company, in the case of delivery to domestic parcel points, it is worth posting the packages by December 18 so that they arrive in time for Christmas. Domestically, packages usually arrive within 1-2 days after posting, writes Infostart.hu.
