The Agrarian Chamber launches a campaign to introduce new technologies for melon production
A campaign is launched by the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) in September, during which the new melon types and production technologies will be presented to the domestic farmers – Mártonffy Béla, chairman of the Department of Horticulture of the Agricultural Chamber told M1 news channel.
He said: In Hungary, 200,000 tons of watermelons are produced by the farmers in five regions on about 5000 hectares. 60 percent of this amount is sold domestically and 40 percent goes to export. The export price is higher in August, because in June-July the melons from the southern European countries are still on the markets. (MTI)
