Husqvarna’s robotic lawnmowers will mow the grass equipped with cameras and artificial intelligence
Husqvarna is expanding its Automower® NERA range of robotic lawnmowers without a boundary wire for smaller gardens with two new models, and this year it will also update all lawnmowers in the NERA range with the systematic mowing function. Artificial intelligence-based vision technology will make Husqvarna’s robotic lawnmowers even more sophisticated: the machine’s camera can distinguish between objects and living things, thus mowing the grass in a way that also protects its surroundings.
In addition to the existing models, the range is also expanding: the Automower® 405XE NERA and Automower® 305E NERA are designed for smaller gardens and, thanks to EdgeCut technology, they also perform precise edging. The new systematic mowing function increases the cutting capacity by 50% and allows them to cut patterns in the lawn, whether stripes or squares.
Mountable camera
The lawnmower can accurately identify objects and living creatures thanks to the new camera that can be mounted on the machine. If the lawnmower detects a hedgehog, it does its job at a safe distance, and if garden furniture or any other object stands in its way, it mows the grass closely around it but carefully. The machine returns to unmown areas later to ensure an even lawn.
The object avoidance system has been available on Husqvarna robotic lawnmowers for years, but with the help of the camera it will be able to delimit them even more precisely. With the infrared night vision function, it will detect objects well both day and night and mow the lawn without disturbing neighbors or animals. All personal data obtained in this way is processed by the machine itself, which is transmitted anonymously to the cloud, so no personal data is stored.
The innovation, which also features night vision, will be available from 2026, for both residential and professional use.
