Rice contaminated with cadmium were found in Southern China
Higher than permitted levels were found in almost half of the tested samples. Carcinogenic cadmium were found by the authorities in south China's Guangdong province – the Chinese media reports of the recent food scandal.
Among 18 samples collected from local markets, higher than permitted cadmium levels were found in 8 samples. The local food authority inspectors found higher than permitted cadmium levels in foods of at least two restaurants and at two university canteens. According to the authorities, a part of the contaminated products came from the neighboring Hunan province, partly from the Guangdong province. (MTI)
