Levi Strauss stops producing in Hungary
With closure of its Kiskunhalas plant 549 employees will lose their jobs, along with hired labour.
The company experiences a marked drop
in demand for its clothing and other consumer products. This has
forced the company to reduce capacities in its manufacturing plants
at the beginning of 2009.
“In order to remain competitive we
need to enhance production flexibility and adjust it to fluctuating
sales," the company said in a press release.
The Levi's brand will be available in
Hungary, the sales section of Hungarian company will not close, also
the Hungarian brand butiques wait their clients in the future.
