Inflation in Slovakia rose to record levels in July
In Slovakia, annual inflation was 4.4 percent in July, the highest rate of price increase in the past 19 months, according to data released by the Statistical Office (SÚSR) on Friday.
The lowest annual price increase was recorded in transport at 1.5 percent, while the highest inflation was recorded in the education sector at 10 percent.
The development of the summary inflation figure was most influenced by the increase in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, with an increase of 3.1 percent. Within this, the increase in the price of edible oils and fats was the largest at 14.6 percent. Milk, cheese, eggs and fruit increased in price by more than ten percent, while the annual price increase for non-alcoholic beverages was 19.2 percent.
The catering industry showed an annual price increase of 9.5 percent, while inflation in alcoholic beverages and tobacco products was 6.7 percent, as the price of wines went up by 16 percent.
