In July, the rate of increase in consumer prices accelerated in the euro area and the EU
In July, the rate of increase in the consumer price index accelerated in the euro area and in the European Union, according to the final data of the EU’s statistical office, Eurostat, presented on Tuesday.
The annual inflation rate of the Eurozone rose to 2.6 percent in July from 2.5 percent in June.
Energy prices increased by 1.2 percent over the year in July after 0.2 percent in the previous month. The price of non-energy industrial products rose by 0.7 percent after the same 0.7 percent in June.
The price of services increased by 4.0 percent in July after 4.1 percent in June. The price increase of food, tobacco products and alcoholic beverages also slowed, to 2.3 percent after 2.4 percent in June.
Excluding energy and food prices (core inflation), it was 2.9 percent, the same as in June.
