In July, the economic index of the GKI barely changed
According to a survey conducted by the GKI Gazdaságkutató – with the support of the EU – in July, neither the prospects of the business sector nor the population changed significantly compared to June. The business cycle index of GKI decreased by 1 point, within the margin of error. The companies’ employment intentions have not changed much. On the other hand, their plans to raise prices were significantly reduced, and thus fell to their lowest point in eight months. The predictability of the farming environment decreased somewhat compared to the previous month.
The summary indicator of corporate and residential prospects, the GKI economic index, decreased by 1 point in July compared to the previous month. This represents a change well within the margin of error. The GKI business confidence index, the indicator expressing the prospects of the entrepreneurial sector, has been fluctuating in a narrow range since last July. Despite the one and a half point drop, the index did not break out of this in July either. In the current month, a markedly favorable change occurred only among commercial companies (the confidence index of the sector increased by 3 points), the prospects of construction industry producers and business service providers changed within the margin of error. Expectations in industry worsened somewhat (the confidence index fell by more than 2 points). The most pessimistic reports continue to come from the construction industry. In industry, the assessment of the order backlog did not change, but the assessment of self-produced stocks and the expected production outlook for the next three months deteriorated noticeably. In the construction industry, the assessment of the order book worsened slightly, but employment expectations improved. In trade, satisfaction with the course of business in the previous three months and the assessment of stocks also improved, with orders expected in the next three months unchanged. In the service sector, employment plans for the next three months deteriorated slightly, while business sentiment and turnover expectations barely changed.
