In July, inflation in the Czech Republic rose to 2.2 percent
Annual inflation in the Czech Republic rose to 2.2 percent in July from 2 percent in June, the Czech Statistical Office announced on Monday in Prague.
According to the statement, the increase in inflation was primarily influenced by the development of food prices. Compared to the previous month, prices rose by 0.7 percent in July, mainly as a result of the increase in the prices of holidays and related services. Czech market analysts predicted 2 percent inflation for July.
“The moderate increase in inflation in July is primarily a consequence of the development of food prices. The rate of decline in food prices has slowed down. In July, they were 3 percent cheaper than a year ago”
Pavla Sedivá, director of the statistical office, pointed out at a press conference.
The evolution of prices in July was also significantly influenced by the fact that housing costs rose by 0.6 percent and services by 4.9 percent on an annual basis.
