Moroccan inflation fell to a 17-month low in July
Consumer price inflation in Morocco slowed to a 17-month low in July.
Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (Haut Commissariat au Plan – HCP) announced on Tuesday that annual inflation in Morocco slowed to 4.9 percent in July, from 5.5 percent in June, to its lowest level since February last year.
The decrease in annual inflation is primarily attributable to the fact that food inflation reached an almost one-year low, in July food prices rose by 12.1 percent on an annual basis after 13.1 percent in June. Among other things, the prices of transport, restaurants and hotels, as well as the prices of home furnishings and household appliances also increased at a slower pace.
In Morocco, annual inflation stood at 10.1 percent in February, and has been showing a gradual slowdown since then.
