0.3-percent drop in consumer prices in July
In July like-for-like consumer prices decreased by 0.3 percent on average – according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH). In comparison with July 2015, food prices increased by 0.2 percent. Sugar prices soared by 25.1 percent and seasonal product (potato, fresh fruits and vegetables) prices elevated by 5.7 percent. Pork’s price dropped 14.2 percent and milk became 6.2 percent cheaper.
Alcoholic drink and tobacco product prices grew by 1.8 percent. Services were provided for 1.3 percent more, but household energy cost 0.1 percent less than in the base period. Motor fuels got 13 percent cheaper. Compared with June 2016, consumer prices were down 0.2 percent and food prices reduced by 0.4 percent. In the first seven months of 2016 consumer prices increased by 0.1 percent on average. /
