Regulations for nitrate-sensitive areas to change from the end of July
Due to the amendment of Decree 59/2008. (IV. 29.) FVM, the regulations for Good Agricultural Practice to be observed in nitrate-sensitive areas will change. The new regulations will be valid from July 30.

The amendment, which will come into force at the end of July, determines the conditions under which easily soluble nitrogen fertilizer can be applied after harvest. The regulation clearly states that nitrogen can be used to promote the decomposition of stem residues and avoid the pentosan effect even if the next crop is only sown in the spring. In order to facilitate the exploitation of the yield potential of new varieties used in intensive cultivation, higher doses of nutrients will be possible for nine crops grown in large areas. Based on 5-year small-plot and field experiments by the HUN-REN ATK Soil Research Institute, increasing the maximum nitrogen doses that can be applied to winter wheat, corn, sorghum, sunflower, rapeseed, sugar beet, spring barley, winter barley and silage corn does not pose a threat to the state of the waters. The amendment of the decree also reduces the administrative burden. Since producers record nitrate data on the Nébih electronic management log (eGN), the requirement to keep paper records for 5 years is no longer required.
