Next year, bread may be made of expensive imported flour
According to the Bakers; Hungary may run out of domestic wheat for the end of the winter and it is conceivable that Hungarian bread will be made of U.S. import wheat. Bakers of Northern Hungary nowadays import the flour from Slovakia, because several domestic flour mills temporarily stopped operating, due to raw material shortages.
According to the Bakers; the lack of flour will lead to price increases. Before the harvest season, the price of flour was 52-53 HUF per kilogram, now it is 95 HUF and if imports will be needed, the price will be 150-160 HUF per kilogram on world market value – reports Népszabadság Online.
