TESCO to open 137 stores in Central Europe
UK retailer Tesco plans to open over 130 new stores this year in Central Europe, in Hungary, in Poland, in Slovakia, in Czech Republic and also in Turkey.
Czech newspaper Hospodarske Noviny reported that 30 of these new stores will be in the Czech Republic. The new locations will be small to
mid-sized shops with a floor area of 3,000 square metres in small to
medium-sized towns. The newspaper reported that the company is also
seeking to increase sales of non-food items in the region to half of
sales, where it currently accounts for two-thirds of sales.
