ALDI expands in Greece
According to Planet Retail Aldi is to launch its first stores in Greece on 13 November this year. 12 outlets will be opened simultaneously, located in both the north and the south of the mainland.
Aldi Süd is currently completing
its 54,000 square metres distribution centre in Sindos in the
outskirts of Thessaloniki, investing around EUR85 million. Aldi said
it will feature a "substantial amount" of Greek products,
although initially, there will also be numerous products imported
from Austria and Germany. The investments for Aldi's Greek market
entry are reported to amount to EUR1.3 billion.
