An agreement on uniform taxation of the digital economy could be reached next summer
Today, the finance ministers of the G20 countries are discussing the package of proposals announced recently by the OECD, which aims to tax the digital economy and introduce a uniform minimum corporate tax. Although the agreement will not be signed this year, contrary to the original plans, BDO Hungary expects the market participants concerned to be prepared for the new regulation by the summer of 2021.
The package of proposals contains two main pillars for the payment of corporate tax by multinational companies. The first pillar mainly concerns international digital service providers, and with its entry into force, tax rights will be transferred from producer, producing or developing countries to user and consumer countries.
