Keiichi Matsuda’s film on Augmented Reality was produced as a part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality. A must see if you like Augmented reality.
“The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may recontextualise the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it. What excites me is not what the devices can do, but that such a large corporation has decided to put its weight behind it,” he says. “The implications are huge. It won’t be long before I can walk past you on the street and immediately see your most recent tweet, your profile picture – whatever information is available.”
