The biggest food collection of the year so far is coming
3,000 volunteers will serve on Friday and Saturday in the biggest food collection campaign of the year so far, organized by the Hungarian Food Bank Association. Helpers wearing green vests will ask customers to donate in 213 Tesco, ALDI and Auchan stores across the country, who can provide support to the needy living in the vicinity of each collection point with their donations.
The Food Bank is one of the most influential charitable organizations in our country, and their name is associated with, among other things, the country’s largest Christmas non-perishable food collection campaigns. Most recently, during the Advent period, they were able to put together 5-kilo donation packages for 70,000 people as a result of a weekend event. Since last year, food collection has also been held in May. At that time, seeing the record inflation and the sharp increase in the needs of the needy, they asked for the support of the population, and to their surprise, the people’s willingness to help exceeded even the festive season: 95 thousand kilos of food were collected, which meant 88 kilos were donated every minute of the one and a half day campaign.
