Single European electronic toll service to be introduced
The European Union (EU) introduced the European Electronic Toll Service (EETS) system directive in 2004. With the EETS the EU wants to ensure the interoperability of toll systems in various countries, so that trucks can use a single on-board equipment even if they go through several countries. Most Western European countries are now ready for the interoperability of electronic toll service systems and Hungary will join them soon.
