The 4th Villányi Gold Tasting is coming
“Good wine doesn’t need a company,” goes the saying. Still, we prefer to take the bottle in hand, which is decorated with the proud awards of recognized wine competitions. And a very important feedback for the farmers is how the qualified winemakers judged the quality of the produced wine in the region’s rich product range. It is no wonder that wine competitions are very popular, be they local, national or even international competitions.
In the Villány wine region, wine competitions with great traditions are also held every year, which are of great value to both the farmers and the professional plenum. Just as the wine region is 1 unit, but two smaller, defining regions, the competitions are also organized 1-1 per district during this period.
While the competition of the Villányi Mountain Community was organized on March 7th in the Villányi Cultural Center, the traditional St. George’s Day Wine Competition of the Tenkes (i.e. Siklósi) Mountain Community was organized in the Siklós Castle on April 24th.
In 2024, a total of 598 wines entered the ring at the wine region’s professional competitions, of which 51 bronze medals, 326 silver, 180 gold and 18 grand gold medals were awarded.
In view of the great interest, the Villány wine region will organize the IV. “Villányi Aranykóstolot”, where those interested can meet the top wines awarded with gold medals by farmers from Villány and Siklós.
